Terms of Service

Welcome to Scout Event. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Scout Event (“Scout Event,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and govern your use of the Scout Event website and application (the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who can use the Service

The Service is intended for Scouts BSA members, troop volunteers, and adult leaders. If you are under 13, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or registered Scoutmaster. You are responsible for making sure your use of the Service complies with your local council, charter organization, and Scouts BSA Youth Protection guidelines.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials safe and for activity that happens under your account. Notify us right away if you believe an unauthorized person is using your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that pose a risk to the safety of other users.

3. Your content

Anything you post into the Service — events, plans, rosters, comments, files — remains yours. You grant Scout Event a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and process that content solely to operate the Service and provide it to the people you share it with. You promise that you have the right to share what you upload and that your content does not violate the law or anyone else's rights.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm any person, particularly youth.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that infringes intellectual-property rights.
  • Attempt to break, reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service.
  • Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited advertising.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with a troop or organization.

5. Third-party services and trademarks

The Service may offer optional integrations with third-party platforms. When you connect a third-party account you also agree to that provider's terms. We are not responsible for third-party services and we cannot guarantee their availability.

BAND and the BAND logo are trademarks of Naver Corporation. Scout Event is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by BAND or Naver Corporation. All third-party names, logos, and trademarks referenced in the Service remain the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the relevant service. “Scouts BSA,” “Boy Scouts of America,” and related marks are the property of their respective owners; Scout Event is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

6. Our intellectual property

The Scout Event name, logo, design, code, and the Service itself are owned by Scout Event and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. Nothing in these Terms gives you ownership of the Service or any rights beyond that license.

7. Fees

The current version of the Service is free for Scouts and patrols. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future; if we do, we will give clear notice before charging you.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Scout Event is a planning tool. You are responsible for following Scouts BSA Youth Protection rules, your charter organization's requirements, and applicable laws when planning and running events.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scout Event will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms is limited to the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100) or the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Scout Event and its employees and contractors from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

11. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we need to for legal or safety reasons. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and dispute terms) will survive.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will post the updated Terms here and update the “Effective” date. Continued use of the Service after the change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Worcester County, Massachusetts, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
